I was down at Muse in Nottingham on Saturday with my laptop and Traktor and had a really good time. I was on between 11 and half twelve, warming up for the headline act Kubiks and Lomax. Thanks and respect must go to the CULT promotion and DJ team for having the cohones to book a dirty, laptop-using, MIDI controller and for putting together such a fine party. Thanks also to all that came down to support me - it really makes a difference to see friends dancing in front. Not only is it infectious and draws more people onto the dance floor, it's a huge pleasure for me.

first and foremost, big ups to you my friend! i have caught your show a couple of times, including the most recent one, and have been entirely impressed. fact is, this is a big thing coming from me since 99% of the time, i listen to my own mixes, hehe. anyway, i noticed that you mentioned you are software based. my question is how they reacted and what you think of the future of software based djs, especially in britain where the trends are set in drum and bass? i'd also like to know what your set up is but i will take that answer in an email if you like. once again, thanks for the tunage :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks q - the dnb community worldwide is starting to accept software as part of the DJ scene. Hopefully in due course, more will migrate from emulating vinyl with timecode to practicing in it's native mode.
ReplyDeleteMy setup is Traktor 3 for the pc and an evolution x-session with plenty of keyboard shortcuts and the mouse. It works for now but it not ideal really!
thanks for the info, my friend. it is much appreciated. i am glad to hear that things are changing and software based djing is becoming more acceptable. i appreciate that some djs of course love vinyl but i would hope that the software based djs could also get some love since there are, of course, many things you can do with software that you cant do with vinyl. :-) keep up the good work, bruv!
