Mix DS179: Catapult

I listen to these mixes to help me work but also to play. A meaty harmonic drum and bass mix goes a long way in helping me to focus on the task at hand; be it building a Web site or stomping losers who desperately need to die using my 70 ton robot =>

In other news, Beatport has just launched its Mixes service where mixes can be hosted in a similar way to Mixcloud. The difference being the DJ can charge for it providing all of the songs in the mix were either bought from Beatport or their own productions. It is interesting because all 3 stakeholders get a cut of the proceeds; artists/label, Beatport and the DJ. I may give it a go soon to see how it all works. The main motive for me using it would be to reach new listeners and take advantage of their embedded player. The nature of the music just isn't commercial so the proceeds are just icing.

    Hi mate, i hope you are having a good festive season :) I have a couple of questions i was hoping you could help me with. I was wondering if you remember DJ Mattrick who used to play on Bassdrive on a Sunday afternoon.

    I have tried to find him myself but have had no luck. I was wondering if you know of his Facebook page and does he play on another station now, and if so, what one ? (Though, why would you want to move from BD)

    I really liked his style of drum n bass so i am trying to track him down as i am looking to download a few of his mixes.

    Hi Kev, apologies for the delay responding. I'm afraid I have no idea what Mattrick is up to these days but I do remember him following my show on Sundays.

    I suggest the best place to track him down would be the bassdrive forums @ http://forum.bassdrivearchive.com/

Mix DS197

I sift through *a lot* of music to find tracks worthy of bringing to you on this podcast so when I discover artists of quality I had previously overlooked I kick myself but then get a real buzz gorging on their back catalogues. Hey all, I realise these mixes are rarer than hen's teeth these days but I'm reluctant to publish stuff I'm not completely happy with. Thing is, I'd never put anything out these days if I let that stop me...
